"[R]cent years have seen several cases of high - profile priests accused of stealing parish money.
"The Rev. Michael Jude Fay of Darien, Conn.,pleaded guilty in September [2007] of taking more than $1 million in contributions.
"He is scheduled [to] begin serving a three - year prison sentence May 19 [2008].
"In 2006, Monnsignor John Woolsey was sentenced to prison for stealing more than $800,000 from his fomrer Upper East Side parish to pay for lavish vacations [Bingo!!] clothes and country club memberships.
"He was released last year..."
Note: Bingo!! here simply means the hypothetical for - instance of a lavish all - expense one - month trip to Vietnam last August being expanded to include the generous financial "help" afforded by the parishioners of Saint Mary Magdalene's Catholic Church here in B'ville being extended -- without the Financial Committee's knowledge, advice or counsel, to an obviously deserving Anglo priest with vaguely Nordic features and gray eyes -- around 40 years of age and from San Antonio --whose face crops up again and again in group pictures taken back in the old country.
