"SEGUIN -- A Guadalupe County grand jury has indicted a former Catholic school teacher, charging him with two counts of soliciting a minor and two counts of attempted sexual assault of a child.

"The soliciting charges against John Calvin Hegedus, a former teacher at Holy Name Catholic School in San Antonio, stemmed from lewd text messages, according to court documents.

"If convicted of the online solicitation charge, a second degree felony, Hegedus could face up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine for each count.

"The attempted sexual assault charge, a third - degree felony, carries a punishment of up to 10 years in prison for each count.

"Hedegus, 32, is being held on a $300,000 bond in the Guadalupe County Jail.

"Sheriff's investigators arrested him April 13 after he drove to a 15 - year - old boy's house.

"The teen's parents had already gone to the sheriff's office to report text messages describing sex acts Hegedus allegedly asked to perform on the teen.

"After his arrest, the Archdiocese of San Antonio said Hegedus had been a religion teacher at the school and had helped at St. James Parish in Seguin during the summer of 2007.

"District Attorney Heather Hollub said the texting incidents showed an amazing new trend in criminal behavior and parents should make themselves aware of text messages their children receive."

UH - OH!!

Do "we" suspect another Archdiocesan cover - up, or what?? :)

"Hollub said anyone with any inofrmation connected to the case should contact the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office."

It seems that something must have been going on from the summer of 2007 to April of 2009.

Folks, that's just too da*m*n long, huh??!!
