"With the summer season ending, students are gearing up for class by acquiring textbooks and supplies for the beginning of the fall term.

"However, many students are going for more cost - effective options with their back - to school shopping due to the recent economic downturn.

"Victor Pacheco, assistant vice president for business affairs, said although the UTEP Bookstore is stocked with new and used textbooks for the fall semester, there has been a recent drop in new textbooks sales.

"Pacheco said Looking at individual goods that impact students the most, used textbook sales are significantly up 19 percent, new textbook sales are down 10 percent and clothing / apparel sales are up 5 percent. Used textbook sales have increased because more are being stocked at the bookstore and because they are less expensive than new textbooks..."

Way to go, Natalia!
