"Marijuana seizures keep U.S. Border Patrol agents busy"

SOME HIGHLIGHTS:

"Eagle Pass South Station Border Patrol agents seized 418 pounds of marijuana after two suspects bailed out of a vehicle during a pursuit.

"The pursuit, which included a CPB Office of Air and Marine helicopter, was initiated based on information provided by the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas Police.

PLUS:

"U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Uvalde Station seized 94 pound of marijuana, valued at more than $75,000.

PLUS:

"Eagle Pass North Border Patrol agents seized 213 pounds of marijuana from a van following a traffic stop Tuesday morning..."

ALSO:

"During fiscal year 2010, which ended September 30, Del Rio Sector posted an all - time annual high in marijuana seizures with more than 88,000 pounds.

"[N]oted Dean Sinclair, acting chief patrol agent, Del Rio Sector Border Patrol. This increase in marijuana seizures points up the alertness and hard work of our agents in the field. Experience and training give us a great advantage over those seeking to bring contraband into the country..."
