Upon arrival in Malta in the early 1520s, Knights still had their share of flakes!

Thus, the "Double Bag" Death Penalty was invoked:

In a book called something like The Monks of War, we read how one Knight had the bad judgment to murder his Maltese mistress while another one -- a Novice Chaplain -- got caught purloining jewels from a chapel dedicated to Our Lady.

Who knows?

Maybe the cleric had big plans to use his share of the ill gotten rake - off to found a Maltese - equivalent of our very own Right Reverend Chapin Memorial Class Room Building or a Retirement Home for Priests in some nearby locale with a name like San Angelo.

I mean, there surely is someplace in Malta with a name that sounds like San Angelo, huh??

Nor would the clerical thief's use of his "funds" in this way have been precisely what we call in México narco - limosna.

No matter!

Because both clowns were unceremoniously slam - jammed into extra large bags, rowed out into the Deep Blue Sea, and then unceremoniously heaved overboard.

And the point was made...

"
Psst! Hey you guys! we're fixing to tighten - up on clerical discipline!" :)
