"Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steven McCraw recently cited violence near the border as a reason for Texas college students to avoid traveling to Mexico.

"McCraw said in a written statement on March 1, Drug violence has not discriminated -- innocent bystanders and people who may have been in the wrong place and the wrong time are among the casualties. Our safety message is simple: avoid traveling to Mexico during spring break and stay alive...

"Martín Rodarte, senior mechanical engineering major, said he was planning on studying and catching up on his course work over spring break.

"He said he visited Juárez two months ago and wasn't afraid.

"[H]e said The last time I went, everything was o.k. I took precautions and avoided public places.

"Patricia Morales, travel consultant from the Rio Grande Buck Rogers Travel agency, said her clients don't book trips to Mexico as much as they used to.

"Morales said Now people are really scared because of the violence ..."

Good points all, great people! :)

¡Ora, UTEP!
