"Belly Dance Extravganza entices"

¡Ora, UTEP! ¡Ora, MEChA! ¡Adelante, DESTINO!

When even the guys showed how to shake it to make it...!

By Cynthia Romero, The UTEP Prospector, Jnauary 17, 2008.

"El Paso's Chamizal National Memorial took on a Middle Eastern flair Saturday, Jan. 12 as the crowd was entranced by local and visiting belly dancers.

"Mikael, a Middle Eastern dancer and musician living in El Paso, appeared on stage.

"Dressed in traditional Middle Eastern clothing, Mikael danced to a Middle Eastern pop song, shaking and shimmying, while the audience clapped and cheered him on.

"By the time the show concluded, the ladies in the audience were talking excitedly about the prospect of donning jeweled sandals themselves and shaking their hips like the belly dancers on stage."
