Fax To: Brackettville City Fire Marshal ....

"Re: Questions related to burning pieces of paper in a portable out door Bar - B - Q grill inside the Brackettville Catholic Church of St. Mary Magdalene's, with the lid open, and flames and sparks flying up, and while the priest draped his outer garments over the outside edge to better see.

"Hello, Mr....!

"All this took place last Saturday night, November 29, 2008, just before the regularly scheduled 5:30 pm Mass, 70 - 90 witnesses present.

"At times the flames shot up two(2) feet or more as the sparks disappeared in space.

"Question One: Since a young altar server was close by, what was the risk, if any, of all this violating any specific fire code, whether here locally or statewide?

"Albeit, only the deacon actually poked at the fire with a stick.

"Question Two: Since the Catholic archbishop in San Antonio was warned of all this well in advance and responded to the warning in writing (as in the attached copy of his letter to me) is he responsible for the results of any such reckless behavior by his own clergy, both priests and deacons?

"Question Three: is what happened already serious enough to make the St. Mary Magdalene's fire insurance carriers rethink their current monthly premiums?

"Thanks in advance for any answers you can give me, as they'll be much appreciated!

"Sincerely yours, etc. etc. etc.

"Copy to: The Most Reverend José Gomez, Archbishop of San Antonio."

Y, así lo fue.... :)
