"I feel for you, but not really"

And The UTEP Prospector's Ms. Vanessa Juarez has the story...

¡Adelante, Vanessa!

Here's a few snippets from the original article published online Wednesday, July 7, 2010.

"We could care less about the feelings of other people we meet in daily life.

"That's the conclusion of a study about college students recently completed by Sara Konrath, a researcher at the University of Michigan Institute for Social Research.

"The study analyzes research done on nearly 14,000 college students over the last 30 years and detected a 40 percent decrease among college students since the 1970s.

"I don't know about anyone else, but this is a searing verdict for college students in this nation.

"Our generation has the highest amount of young people getting a college education ever, we have more access to knowledge than our parents and grandparents did and we have dozens of social networking sites at our fingertips that are supposed to enforce the global community the word is becoming..

"As college students, we are the people who will graduate [from] college to make policy and build businesses.

"We can't afford to become less understanding of others when the world is becoming smaller and smaller, otherwise we'll only be making worse conflict for ourselves.

"You either get it, or you don't -- and we need to get it..."

¡Ora, UTEP!

¡Ora, MEChA!

¡Adelante, DESTINO!
