"Question

"I heard a priest recently quote a theologian who said that if they found the body of Christ in Israel it would not shake his faith in the Resurrection, because the Resurrection was not about physical bodies living again but was a result of the faith of the community making sense of Jesus' Passion.

"Can you comment?

"Answer:

"If Christ is not risen, then our faith is in vain (I Cor 15:17).

"The attempt to deny the physical Resurrection has come up a lot in recent years as a result of the influence of the philosophy of Emmanuel Kant on theological thinking.

"Metaphysical things were true because the subject needed them to be.

"When applied to faith this would mean that the need of the believer creates the object of faith.

"So the need of the community to make sense of the Passion created the truth of the Resurrection, but they never actually touched Jesus or saw him walking around ..."

And this all goes on and on... very interesting, indeed! :)

So, how would your parish priest, deacon or RCIA instructor, etc. respond to this question? :) x 5
