"Man severely burned by campfire"

"An undocumented alien flagged down a Kinney County Sheriff's Deputy on December 27 and wanted to turn himself into immigration authorities.

"Javier Ramirez, 41, of Ucareo, Michoacan, Mexico, was walking on Highway 90 East when he waved down a deputy because he needed medical attention.

"Ramirez ... was burned while he slept near a campfire in the early morning hours on Monday.

"Ramirez reported he had been walking down the fence line on Highway 90 all day until he saw the deputy.

"The deputy immediately called for medical assistance.

"Ramirez was transported to Uvalde and later airlifted to a San Antonio hospital for what is believed to be second and third degree burns to his back and hands.

"Ramirez said he entered the United States illegally near the Amistad Dam thirteen days ago..."

Oh, boy! Well at least it sounds like somebody did something for the poor fellow!
