"He made a reference to Pope John Paul II..

"I'm not sure exactly how that reference went, but the comment prompted me to begin reading JPII.

"I discovered that the early Fathers were not the only ones to write of the Holy Spirit with insight and clarity, but this man did as well.

"This man who was the current leader of -- gasp -- the Roman Church!"
