"Boko Haram: Catholic bishops blame FG, others for laxity"

"ABAKALIKI -- CATHOLIC Bishops of Nigeria, this weekend, blamed the Federal Government [FG] and other governmental agencies for failing to check the menace caused by the Boko Haram sect in different parts of the country, especially in Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

"Relatedly, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, has charged President Goodluck Jonathan to be decisive on Jos killings and Boko Haram, warning that the country was gradually sliding into anarchy.

"PFN added that the ultimate objective of Boko Haram and those behind the Jos killings was a forceful and total islamisation of the country.

"The Catholic bishops also noted that State Security Service, SSS, and other security agencies had in the past five years furnished governments at all levels with information on activities of the sect but that nothing significant had been done to curtail their activities.

"Archbishop Felix Alaba Job, President, Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, who made the following assertion while declaring open the Second Plenary session of the Bishops Conference in Abakaliki, noted that the sect was not faithful to the norms and principle of Islam which they claim was the basis for their activities..."
