"The Anatomy of Schism"

Adapted from James Hitchcock's article in "The Catholic World Report," June 2008. Pages 20 - 26.

The bizarre case of Father Marek Bozek., a true headache for Archbishop Raymond Burke, of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

"On Christmas Day 2006, Bozek made a dramatic announcement from the pulpit -- while a seminarian in Poland he had been falsely accused of homosexuality and forced to leave the seminary.

"Someone in St. Louis had learned of this, he said, and was threatening to make it public, motivating him to preempt the revelation himself.

"This past November two women were ordained to the priesthood by a female bishop in a St. Louis synagogue, a ceremony in which Bozek formally participated, laying hands on the women during the rite and thereby signifying his recognition of their priesthood.

"Archbishop Burke then warned Bozek that he faced permanent removal from the priesthood if he did not repudiate his action."

And, so, it just keeps getting better and better!

So, then:

"Just why has this same Archbishop Burke seen fit to send one Father Kevin P. Fausz, CM, to the Archdiocese of San Antonio, supposedly to take over as pastor of Holy Redeemer Parish?

"Does this archdiocese, or any truly Catholic diocese anywhere period, stand to gain from someone indoctrinated in what sounds like a racist "separate but equal" sort of pseudo - Christianity called "Black Catholic Studies?"
