Becky Ramotowski: SKY WATCH a.k.a.
SOUTH TEXAS STARGAZING!!
"Mars and Saturn come together; Jupiter rides the sky all night long"
Adapted from this source: San Antonio EXPRESS - NEWS, Monday, July 7, 2008.
"It's weeks like this one that make stargazing addictive.
"If you don't believe me, just try to avoid peeking out and watching the sky the next few nights, if weather permits.
"Tonight the moon is a thick crescent and glows brightly in a star - starved area of the sky.
"It seems it is illuminating a dark region of space just as a night light brightens a dim hallway.
"Mars and Saturn continue to edge closer to each other in an eye - catching location below Leo the lion's belly.
"The duo will be in conjunction Thursday [tonight!], but the nights leading up to and after the close encounter are picture - perfect opportunities to make a few snap - shots."
REGULUS HANGS LOW IN THE WEST!!
"The bright star Regulus hangs low in the west a bit right of the rendezvousing pair.
"Simple point - and - shoot digital cameras are capable of recording Mars and Saturn as two stellar spots of light that will seem to meet briefly and then go their separate ways as the night progresses."
