"Montaillou, village occitan de 1294 à 1324"

La maison et l'au - delà...

P. 625:

"Le catharisme n'est plus aujourd'hui qu'un astre mort, dont nous recevon à nouveau la lumière fascinante et froide, après un demi - millénaire d'occultation."

Mais non! :)

In fact:

The underlying thesis of our current work - in - progress: Borderlands Gnostic - Fantasy Enclaves: A Challenge to Early 21st Century Catholicism? is based on a more or less academic assumption.

And the assumption is this.

That one Monsieur le docteur Emmanuel Le Roy Ladurie couldn't have possibly foreseen the virulent outbreak of numerous gnostic fantasy enclaves, ranging from the Society of St. Pius X's Jesus and Mary Chapel in El Paso, Texas to St. Mary Magdalene's Catholic Parish Church right here in Brackettville, Texas, that would once again resurrect le astre mort - the dead star -- of the Cathars.

And then, once more -- just as in the Middle Ages -- we would ourselves be seeing this resurrection in any number of places from New Mexico almost to the Gulf of Mexico -- and on both sides of La Frontera.

Many thousands of us would eventually become the actual witnesses to the rise of le paradis des Albigeois - the Albigensian paradise.

Witnesses, too, to the inevitable spiritual and social chaos and anarchy that would be left in its wake...
