UTEP's Ms. Viviana Marisela Cardona: "A fresh voice for KROD"

Looks to me like you've come a long way, now at least, in developing a real talent, almost like switching your major!

'Cause this time Ms. Cardona is reporting the news instead of trying to make it as a drama queen star!

"Cardona [who is known as Viviana Guillen to KROD listeners] said, You learn that you can't sound however you want to on air. I didn't like my voice when I first started working. The staff at KTEP helped me to develop it and learn to not pop my t's or sound high pitched. They coached me on it, and eventually people were getting my voice confused with Norma Martinez, the traffic director at KTEP...

"With the birth of FM radio, many AM stations began to lose their popularity, but [KTEP Operations Director Dennis] Woo said that Cardona is bringing a brand new voice to AM radio in El Paso.

"Woo said, She has the ability to relate to an audience that wouldn't normally listen to the station (KROD). She's bringing to AM radio something that I haven't seen in 20 years...."
