"Dodson Brothers're the three I'm thinking of."
San Raphael's Sheriff Lunceford lays down the law to the Lone Star Hellions -- aka Larry Valentine and Woodville Stretch Emerson -- in Marshall Grovers' The No Name Gang, pages 265 - 266, large print edition.
Yep! Once more we're back in the good old days...
... back when only the bad died old...
"[R]emarked Lunceford, Next Saturday's payday for the cattle spreads hereabouts. Gonna be a lot of frisky cowhands riding in, hankering to kick up their heels and raise he*ll.
Dodson Brothers're the three I'm thinking of.
Big fellers.
A lot of muscle.
They down a few shots of red - eye, they figure they can lick the world.
Personally, I wouldn't give 'em one chance in ten thousand against you two.
They'd likely end up in the county clinic in what the doctors call a reduced condition.
Just thought I'd mention the Dodsons and -- uh -- ask how long you intend staying in San Raphael.
"[D]rawled Stretch, Well, when a sheriff buys us a drink, we like to do right by him.
"[S]aid Larry, Tomorrow mornin' we'd like to provision up and quit town. How doles that sound to you?
"[S]aid Lunceford, It'd be a comfort to me and healthy for the Dodson brothers.
"Stretch assured him. Suits us too, on account of we're just a couple peace - lovin' hombres that don't like any kind of trouble.
"[T]he sheriff said with a wry grin. Sure you are. Sure you are...."
Question: "So? What happens next? In Spofford? Brackettville? Quemado? 'Cause sooner or later the Dodson Brothers're going to pop up again, and then what?
