St. Mary Magdalene's Catholic Parish Christmas Mass Stats:

A 15% decrease in estimated net attendance, overall?

Year: 2007

411 +/- total Mass attendance for three(3) Masses.

Christmas Eve First Mass @ 7:00 pm. 250 +/- Enthusiastic choir along with a Youth Group Pageant & a Post - Mass Parish Christmas Party. And! In an assist to our hardworking and enthusiastic young organist, an equally young Mr. Tipps played his wail'in SAX!

Christmas Eve Midnight Mass @ ??!! pm. 80 + / - Again, an enthusiastic choir plus a Youth Group Pageant. Again! Mr. Tipps played his wail'in SAX!

Christmas Day Mass @ 9:00 am. 80 + / - Everybody quietly wished one another "Merry Christmas," and headed on home en rumbo a su rancho!

Year: 2008

345 +/- total Mass attendance. But! This time there's only two (2) Masses. No Youth Group Pageant, no choir, and no Parish Christmas Party. However! The by - now legendary Mr. Tipps once again came to our little town to help our hardworking organist by playing along with her music his wail'in SAX!

Christmas Eve Mass @ 6:00 pm. 225 + / -

Christmas Day Mass @ 10:30 am. 120 +/-

Wildly Crude & Non - scientific Statistical (ha, ha!) Variation:

"Christmas Mass Attendance for 2008 showed an approximate drop of 15% from last year's 2007 Christmas Mass Attendance."
:)

"Relevance," if any?

Humm ... o.k. I see your point!

Well!

Given the crudity of the mathematics involved, I'd say anything that shows a fluctuation of less than 25% from one year to the next could indeed be statistically negligible.

Who knows? Christmas
2009 will make or break the trend, most likely!

And so ...

Merry Christmas
2008 to All,

And
to All a Happy New Year 2009!
