"The Vatican is weighing new guidelines for the care of children who are fathered by Catholic priests, according to an August report in the Italian newspaper La Stampa.

"The report said that the Congregation for Clergy is considering rules that would provide for the care of such children from the personal assets of the priests involved, without imposing legal or financial obligations upon the Church..."
