Fast forward to Pentecost Sunday, May 23, 2010.

With the legendary Father George M. Franko.

"Rabbi Philip Bernstein has written an interesting book entitled What Jews believe.

"[H]e says:

Although Jews are able to understand Jesus, the Jew of Nazareth, they have never been able to understand or accept the idea of the Trinity.

Whereas for Christians
:

"The fire falls and frees us.

"The Trinity is at the heart of the celebration of Pentecost.

Snippets from among the opening remarks in his homily in the Homiletic & Pastoral Review for April 2010.

"Rabbi Philip Bernstein has written an interesting book entitled What Jews Believe.

"There he says, Although Jews are able to understand Jesus, the Jew of Nazareth, they have never been able to understand or accept the idea of the Trinity.

"This is a thought - provoking statement.

"If there is no Trinity, Jesus is not really the Son of God.

"He is merely the Jew of Nazareth.

"This is not understanding Jesus.

"If there is no Trinity, there i s no Holy Spirit and nothing to today's solemnity, Pentecost.

"But today we are overjoyed to celebrate what Catholics believe about the Trinity, and especially the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives..."

Good for you, Padre! :)
