UTEP's Department of English - Southwest Lit!

S. C. Gwynne's Empire of the Summer Moon.

New York: Scribner, 2010.

For me?

A fantastic read!

Plus: a good initial source for a term paper related to UTEP's Southwest Literature, on either the undergraduate or graduate level!

A fascinating look at the Comanche's world, much of it intertwined with the lives of Cynthia Anne Parker - her Comanche husband Peta Nacona and their son Quanah Parker.

One of the loose ends in Southwest History that this book clears up for me personally is the actual historical origins of the Comancheros, that the author dates back to the late 1700s.
