Did Martin Luther anticipate Vatican Council II's teaching on role of Mary??

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, (CCC, for short!), let's just take as a more or less random example, CCC 968.

It seems that in Lumen Gentium, Chapter 61, of November 21, 1964, the Church fathers wrote "Wherefore she is our Mother in the order of grace..."

And as we read a little further down our catechism, CCC 969, this time citing the Church fathers in Chapter 62 of this same document:

"The motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfilment of all the elect..."

Now, as the authors we cited yesterday in their book Building on a Solid Foundation tell us, again on page 209, after quoting Martin Luther himself on the topic of the Virgin Mary:

"Martin Luther believed what the Catholic Church taught him about Mary.

"These beliefs represented 1,500 years of Christian reflection on Mary through the Scriptures..."
