St. Louis Archbishop Burke will dedicate Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe...

Adapted from John Sondag's article in The Catholic Servant, Vol. XIV, No. IV, April 2008.

The shrine is nearing completion in Archbishop Raymond Burke's former diocese of La Crosse, Wisconsin, where he'd decided to build it years ago.

The formal dedication is scheduled for July 31, 2008.

As Archbishop Burke tells John Sondag:

"Prior to July 31, there will be a number of celebrations for the blessing of the sacred vessels and vestments and furnishings to be used in the Shrine Church.

"Also, we will celebrate in honor of the two blesseds whose relics will be placed in the altar of the new church, namely Blessed Kateri Tekawitha and Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

"Following the Dedication of the Church there will be a special day for seminarians on August 1, and then on August 2 a special day for the Marian Catechist Apostolate, which has been closely connected to the work of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe from the beginning.

"Finally, on the Sunday following the Mass of Dedication, there will be a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving and a concert provided by the Franciscans of the Immaculate."
