"Dear Madam President, Brackettville Bank and Trust, Saturday, March 15, 2008:
"When we attended the Rev. Jeffrey Janca's First Baptist Church here in Brackettville, Texas for three consecutive months of Sunday evening Bible 101 Studies, we felt it only a matter of courtesy that we should put in a buck or two to cover our expenses, as his church is not ours, and so we gave a little, most every week.
"Yet, to our surprise, we got a statement in the mail in January 2008 from the First Baptist Church crediting us with every penny contributed, although it was most likely 100% donated in more or less the sam ekind of a blank generic envelope as we have attached a copy on page two of this FAX.
"In our own Catholic parish's case, the envelopes (a blank copy of which we have attached) come from a shelf at St. Mary Magdalene's Catholic Church, where we made a total of $600 worth of donations (1 cash, 5 M.O.s) over a three week period only to find out later (around mid - December, 2007) our own pastor simply didn't know what had happened to all this money.
"Period.
"His priestly supervisor in Del Rio seemed to know even less, as he never even bothered to respond to our FAX'ed query.
"In our pastor's case, we were told in person three consecutive times something more or less along these lines:
Call Sistah Suzie here at Rectory!
Give her magic numbah!
Sister Suzie tell you confidential information!
"All our efforts to explain anything to the contrary of the magic numbah routine was firmly brushed aside, as the pastor has only been in our country 28 consecutive years and is still proud of the fact that he has so far had no luck in ever really learning either spoken Spanish or spoken English.
"In short, I am of the opiinion that in hypothetical questions of moral turpitude versus fiscal honesty, our pastor is no Rev. Jeffrey Janca, how about it?
"Respectfully submitted, etc., etc...
"Attachments: One, copies of three (3) money orders, plus 1 blank offering envelope."
