Easily corrected blooper in Biblical cite re "Calling priests father!"
"Patrick Madrid gives Catholics handle on how to explain, defend their faith"
Original quote is in our archdiocesan newspaper, Today's Catholic. Friday, April 10, 2009. By staff writer Ms. Carol Baas Sowa.
For his own part, yours truly thanks the dynamite team of Brother Jeffrey Janca of First Baptist Church fame, and his kindness in giving us a really fine version of the King James Bible as well as Sister Nora Rivas for quietly persisting in urging us to acquire -- and at a cut rate! -- the St. Mary Magdalene's Charismatic Group's New American Answer Bible.
We did our own little research into what follows from out of both of these fine sources.
Now, for what seems to be Mr. Madrid's blooper:
"For those who quote Scripture refuting calling priest father [earlier he cites Matthew 23:9, for this, o.k.?] he recommended highlighting I Cor. 3:10, in which St. Paul refers to his congregation as their father and cited other passages from Scripture as well."
To put it simply, folks, it doesn't look to me as though I Cor. 3:10 is worth flip here, but!
Both I Cor 4:15 and Galatians 4:19 most certainly are!
Don't believe it?
