"In response to the moral breakdown in America, the words of St. John Eudes are prophetic."

Adapted from this source: Robert J. Kendra, Episcopal abortion politics, "Homiletic & Pastoral Review," November 2008.

"In response to the moral breakdown in America, the words of St. John Eudes are prophetic

"He warned, The most evident mark of God's anger and the most terrible castigation he can inflict upon the world are manifested when he permits his people to fall into the hands of clergy who are priests more in name than in deed, priests (and bishops)who practice the cruelty of ravening wolves rather than the charity and affection of devoted shepherds...

Instead of leading their people to God, they drag Christian souls into hell in their train ...

Their affections go no farther than earthly things, they eagerly bask in the empty praises of men, using their sacred ministry to serve their ambitions, they abandon the things of God to devote themselves to the things of the world, and in their saintly calling of holiness, they spend their time in profane and worldly pursuits..."

The author now goes on to make a really telling point:

God is now punishing us with pusillanimous bishops...

"Polls show that Catholics believe a person can be a good Catholic without obeying Church teachings on birth control (75 percent), on divorce and remarriage (66 percent ), and abortion (53 percent).

"And Catholic practice in these matters is essentially the same as non - Catholics.

"As a consequence, it seems that God is now punishing us with the current pathetic coterie of mostly [Folks, he's talking like 75% and up] pusillanimous bishops..."

Good point, SeƱor Ingeniero....!!
