San Antonio's PC University of the Incarnate Word, caving in to Islamic Militants??!!


On Monday, November 3, 2008, while cruising down Broadway towards the Old Austin Highway mid - morning, we passed UIW and both of us saw a big banner facing our route saying some kind of dopey thing like:

God Bless Our Coalition Troops

Whatever that was supposed to mean!

Then, as luck would have it, either that very night or the next morning back here in Brackettville, I came to page 184 in Diana West's The Death of the Grown - Up, How America's Arrested Development is Bringing Down Western Civilization where she tells us:

"The University of the Incarnate Word in Texas exchanges its crusader mascot for a cardinal (the bird, not the prelate) also for fear of giving offense.

"Swiss tourist brochures in Arabic omit scenic snaps of Tyrolean churches and replace a picture of a pork salami specialty with some local cheese.

"To be sure, churches are not mosques, and pork is not eaten by Muslims; but why does Switzerland, a country of churches and pork salami, want to pretend otherwise?

"Why the reluctance to acknowledge patent differences between Islam and the West?

"Why the refusal to examine whether Islam plays a central role in te so - called war on terror?

"Why the failure to study whether the war on terror is a defensive response to the latest manifestation of thirteen years centuries of Islamic jihad?

"Why the cold - sweating fear over even asking the questions?

"[Egyptian - born author] Bat Ye'or has described Western silence on Islam -- today's gruesome human rights violations, yesterday's bloody conquests -- as the politics of dhimmitude.

"The term is provocative, describing a framework of concessions to Islam that goes far beyond theorizing in a lecture hall, or PC politesse in the public arena..."

Some good points to ponder, huh??!!

*Dhimmitude -- Folks, my own knee - jerk guess is that this here dhimmitude isn't much more than a sort of groveling acquiescence to all demands Islamic brutally imposed upon non - Islamic subject populations in Muslim -- dominated nations and occupied territories.
