"A Sign of Contradiction"

"New chapel at Thomas Aquinas College in California announces faith to a skeptical world"

"After his general audience of September 3, 2008, Benedict XVI blessed the cornerstone [all 765 - pounds of it!] of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel for Thomas Aquinas College in California."

Adapted from article by Ms. Anne S. Forsyth, Inside the Vatican magazine, January 2009.

"In September [2008], a delegation of the college's governors and benefactors accompanied the chapel's 765 - pound cornerstone to the Vatican, where it received the blessing of His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI.

"The purpose of this blessing, as Dr. Dillon puts it, was to make a statement in stone that Thomas Aquinas College is committed to being loyal to the Pope and faithful to the teaching Church.

"Further, as Ms. Forsyth quotes him, college president Dr. Thomas E. Dillon tells us that the purpose for this "15,000 square foot, $23 million chapel," is as follows: The first and primary reason for the chapel is to give glory to God and to provide a fitting place for the Mass and the reposition of the Blessed Sacrament."

A great read!!
