Snippets from Today's Catholic. Friday, June 26, 2012.

No time for complacency despite significant advances, Notzon says ...

In Atlanta, San Antonio resident Mr. Al Notzon III of the American Catholic Church's National Review Board (NRB)...

... crunches some priestly sex - abuse stats from the past 10 years, from 2002 - 2012.

"They found that [up to] 2004 [some] 4,392 clerics had allegations made against them and an additional 1,723 clerics have had credible allegations made against them since then..."

Way to go, Señor! :)

Whimsical exchange between yours truly and our new pastor, Fr. Antonio Moreno after last yesterday's 5:30 p.m. Mass.

Me: "Father.. that CCD supply wish list you just told us about that's in  the bulletin insert, supposing we just give a $100.00 cash?"

Father (Doesn't so much as bat an eyelash!) "Oh, I'm sure that will  be just fine!" :)

Good man, Father Moreno!  He knows about us lazy 'ole fellows, 'cause it's one heck of a lot easier to hit the ATM machine for 5 $20.00s then wait in line at either Walmart or $$General$$ -- you bet! :)

Just ask Corporal Christopher Ahrens!

"I Don't Need Luck!"

TFP's Crusade magazine. July / August 2012.

"In 2010, Cpl. Christopher Ahrens received two - head shots  while fighting in Marjah province of Afghanistan.

"Fortunately, the bullets passed through his thick Kevlar helmet without causing serious injury.

"When interviewed about the encounter, Cpl. Ahrens folded back the camouflaged cloth cover of his helmet to expose the holes where the bullets had entered and exited.

"He then turned it upside down to display a holy card of Saint Michael the Archangel killing Satan and said, I don't need luck.."

Humm ... guess it's too much to expect that he had a red - headed Marine sergeant (E - 5) grandfather named something like Don Ahrens serving alongside yours truly as a Weapon's Platoon M - 60 machine gun section leader in Hotel Company 2/27 in South Vietnam's Ha Dong Bridge out post way back in 1968, huh? :)

A tough modern - day Medieval Warrior - Bishop!

Right out of El poema del mio Cid!

His Excellency   Juan Antonio Reig Pla of Alcala de Henares??

He openly  confronts rabidly aggressive homosexual attackers!

TFP's Crusade magazine July / August 2012 has this news brief:

 "Hellish Homosexuality

"Homosexual groups are seeking the prosecution of Spanish Bishop Juan Antonio Reig Pla of Alcala de Henares after he called the homosexual lifestyle pure hell and recommended professional help for those who suffer from same - sex attraction.

"Instead of retreating, the Spanish bishop published testimonies sent to him by former homosexuals who agreed with him and explained why..."

July, 2012 -- it's  time to take $$Financial$$ stock re projected contributions to "favorite funds!"

Plus side:

KCL Friends: $1,400 so far this year.

Mens & Womens ACTS Catholic Revival Retreats: $500.00 so far + another $560.00 by this November.

Negative side:

Medicare Monthly deduction: $99.99 -- starting this month.

Possible attorney fees to regain my 4th Amendment rights to "mind my own business at the KCL -- free from constant KCL employee male on male physical stalking and unwanted verbal harassment..."

Because the "perp" made his first overt pass on his own married latina supervisor sometime back -- and apparently got away with it -- he figures he can make moves on anyone else, too.

Example: in her case, it was a note asking her to "be friends" and that he'd left her some paintings and that she was free to pick any she pleased.

Example: in my most recent case, Monday, July 2, 2012, in the Frittir Room -- in the presence of numerous witnesses -- he forced himself into my personal space and bragged of  how he'd been watching what in the pornography trade used to be called a "snuff flick."

In this case a woman was cutting the head off a man with a small knife, while he was still alive...

Bear in mind  this KCL employee has unrestricted supervision over children on both Saturdays & Sundays...:(

Basically, in spite of a cultivated glib and cheerful personality, this man has a very controlling, jealous and manipulative personality -- one, moreover, utterly without concern for others....

An almost classic profile of a habitual predator.

In any case:

I promptly made my concerns known to Kinney County Commissioner Mr. Dennis Dodson --- in writing only! -- and to KCL Director, Mrs. Sarah Terrazas in both writing and oral briefing, Thursday July 5, 2012.

In her case I was careful to assure her I wasn't "gay bashing" nor "homophobic" but -- in so many words! -- I didn't like other men coming on to me sexually -- that this situation had to stop.

Because as a matter of fact the majority of gay males I've known have been law - abiding individuals; it is the ones like we're dealing with here  that give the gay community as a whole an undeserved bad name..

Think about it! :)

Congratulations to former KCL 2010 B.H.S. Summer Intern Ms. Sahara Rodriguez!

Because this summer she's  the only college sophomore among 50 Junior and Senior college interns from all over America "at Avnet, Inc. one of the world's largest trans - national electronics distributors of electronics parts, .. etc..."

Way to go, Sahara!

Benton R. White's fine Texas biography of Fountain Goodlet Oxsheer, The Forgotten Cattle King.

In 1901 he purchased a Mexican ranch 60 miles west of Ciudad Chihuahua, Hacienda Sainapuchic.

He  appointed his son F.G., Jr. as the new Superintendent, until the ranch was sold in 1909.

Which it was on the advice and counsel  of Junior's silent partners,  and therein hangs a tale.

"F.G., Jr. was only twenty years old when his father put him in charge of Sainapuchic.

"Even in Chihuahua City men heard of him and were impressed..."

Enter Silent Partner #1!

"Abraham González, for instance, a cattle broker and political leader, soon counted F.G., Jr. among his friends.

"The time would come when the Oxsheers would need a friend like Abraham González..."

Enter Silent Partner #2

"Another associate of F.G., Jr's was a wily figure named Doroteo Arango, better known as Pancho Villa.

"His father never knew the details, but F.G., Jr. was in touch with Villa within a year after arriving in Mexico.

"The two could have met through Abraham González or peons at

Sainapuchic ...

"However it happened, Villa and F.G., Jr. quickly recognized that each had something to offer the other...

"It was a daring little game, and dangerous.

"If authorities discovered what was happening, the Oxsheers were finished in Mexico; F.G., Jr. would be jailed.

"But if he sided against Villa, Sainapuchic  would be destroyed.

"It took someone with audacity to pull it off.

"If his father had known what was going on, he probably would have sold the ranch and yanked his son out of the country..."

At last! 3/4 of a inch of rain fell in Brackettville, Texas  U.S.A. 78832.

Preliminary Winners & Losers:

As incoming pastor Father Antonio O. Moreno

takes  control at St. MM's!

And casually slam dunks us all into Combat Mode I -- locked and loaded!

Two(2) examples from his first bulletin insert:

Sunday 1 pm. Mass at our old mission church of Saint Blaise / San Blas in Spofford "is no more!"

Looks the same with next Fall's CCD Sunday classes.

Father Moreno has cut the time between the 1st & 2nd. Sunday Masses, leaving our CCD teachers to twist in the wind -- at least for now!

Plus, St. MM's itself seems to have been degraded into a sort of mission status -- like such places as Leakey & Rock Springs...

Last Sunday's Altar Server's BBQ Hamburger fundraiser seems to have been a great success!
